Circle Game – A night of music and memories

Circle Game
Sunday October 6th at 7:00 pm

Can we relive memories through music?
Featuring: Maya Jenkins and friends

The show asks the question “what is a memory and what are the various ways we can relive them?” All of the music in this show is tied to a memory that we have of our grandparents or is one of their favourite songs. We use the music to further understand our relationship with our grandparents and their lives. We knew them as children, but now that we are adults we start to look at our memories differently and everything that you thought you knew about this person suddenly becomes a paradox. Our rationale is that music brings people together; people from different countries, different generations, and different socioeconomic backgrounds. The purpose of the evening is to try and strengthen the relationship with someone who maybe isn’t here anymore, yet is still with you everyday.

The Cast:

Maya Jenkins:   Maya is thrilled to be performing in the cabaret Circle Game since the last incarnation at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in Toronto. Maya created this cabaret with the help of her cast mates last year as part of an internship program with Buddies and is excited to share this piece with you again. She is a recent graduate of the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance at Sheridan College and is excited to share the stage with so many new colleagues and fellow Sheridan alum. Past credits include: Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady (Brott Music Festival); Sarah in Billy and The Dreamerz (Caged Angel Films); Catherine in The House of Martin Guerre (Theatre Sheridan); Gloria in Kelly v. Kelly (Theatre Sheridan/Musical Stage Co.); and Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables (St.Marys Community Players). Love and thanks to her colleagues and family who have made this cabaret possible.

Noah Beemer: Noah is a recent grad from Sheridan’s Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance Program. Recent credits include The Threepenny Opera, On the Town and Chelsea Sunrise (Theatre Sheridan), Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Eclipse Theatre), Heresy (Paprika Festival) and Worry Warts (Convergence Theatre).  He hopes you enjoy these songs and stories as much as the cast has loved them!

Carlo is so ecstatic to be performing alongside his peers. This is his 3rd show after graduating from Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Performance Program this past April 2019. Carlo is so humbled to be playing, dancing and reflecting upon the lives of our grandparents  and relatives. Previous roles include Ozzie in On the Town, Blakey in Chelsea Sunrise and Erik in Erik with a k. Which was a new Canadian musical that was explored through Sheridan College’s Canadian Music Theatre Project. Carlo would like to thank his family for the love and support they share with him constantly, for bringing him to auditions and for always attending his performances. Enjoy the show!

Elise Wilson: Elise is so happy to be back performing in Circle Game. Elise learned so much about her grandma Winnie’s life through meaningful conversations that were started because of this show. Elise is a recent graduate of Sheridan’s Music Theatre Performance Program and is currently a singer for Smile Theatre. Select credits include Selene in A Time of Future Tales (Hamilton Fringe), Lucy Brown in The Threepenny Opera (Theatre Sheridan), Ensemble in Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Eclipse Theatre Company) and Flossie in On the Town (Theatre Sheridan).  Enjoy the show!
