Stewardship
Imagine…what God can do…
What is Stewardship?
As Christians we are all called to be good stewards. But what exactly does that mean? According to the on-line Merriam-Webster dictionary “stewardship” can be defined as….
“the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care”.
We believe that all we have is a gift from God, entrusted to our care and nurture. We are called to be the church and to use our time, talent and material resources to care for one another, our community and our world. Our shared responsibility for the vitality of church life, financial and otherwise, is part of our stewardship.
What does the Stewardship Committee do?
The prime activities of the Stewardship Committee are:
- to generate stewardship awareness throughout the year;
- to conduct an annual Pledge Campaign;
- to provide an estimate of projected givings to the Finance Committee;
- to assist in other Special Appeals projects.
How are my gifts used?
Whether your stewardship is in the form of financial gifts, time or talent it supports four main areas within the church – Mission and Outreach, Pastoral Care, Worship and Faith Formation.
We are all asked to support the church, financially, to the extent that we are able and, also, to offer our time, energy and talents in volunteer positions. At Grace United Church, church staff and laypeople work together to carry out the vital ministry of growing people of faith who participate in God’s work in the world.
How can I give?
If you who wish to offer your time and talent as a volunteer please contact the church office at 905-335-0090 or by email.
If you wish to provide financial support to Grace United Church you may do so by way of envelopes on Sunday morning, by pre-authorized remittance (PAR),by way of on-line donation via Canada Helps, or by sending a cheque.
