Church Re-opening Information – June 2020

At Grace United Church, the spiritual, emotional, and physical safety and well being of our congregation, our facility users and our neighbouring community is uppermost in our minds.  We are committed to keeping everyone informed and refer you to the information below.

Please read our message to the congregation from the Chairs of the Board regarding Grace Church re-opening plans.

The Horseshoe Falls Regional Council of The United Church of Canada has developed some preliminary guidelines to help churches determine a plan for re-opening.  These will be updated on a regular basis and will be used as a guide to help Grace United Church develop our re-opening plan.  To read these Guidelines click here

We invite you to read the letter which was sent from the Antler River Watershed, Horseshoe Falls, Western Ontario Waterways Regional Councils of UCC to the Premier of Ontario, The Deputy Premier and Minster of Health, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development and the Chief Medical Officer of Health.  To read this letter click here.

We encourage you to visit the Horseshoe Falls Regional Council COVID-19 Pandemic Resources page to read what is being done by the greater church.

Update from the Board regarding church Re-entry                               June 30, 2020

The Board Re-entry committee recently provided an update stating that for the foreseeable future, we would not be conducting live worship services at Grace United, to ensure the safety of our Minister, our staff, volunteers, and congregation as a whole.   The Re-entry committee is continuing to review guidelines from the Ontario Government and the United Church of Canada, and in fact we hope to be surveying our congregation in the near future to obtain your feedback on what you would want to see in place to help us get ready to re-open our doors.  In the meantime, we have had a few requests from some of our small groups asking when they might be able to start meeting again on church premises.  For the same reasons that we are not opening up for our worship services, which is for the safety of our members, we will not be opening up Grace United for use by small church groups for the foreseeable future.  Please feel free to contact either Heather McGavin or Dale Martin directly if you have any specific questions about this decision.
