UCW Meeting
Did you know that there were actually (maybe) three or more different men referred to as Saint Valentine?
Such is story-telling and historical research. Shirley Hobden, genealogist for over fifty years has delved deep into her own very interesting family history. Remember hearing of Home Children? from the Child Migration scheme from the U.K. Shirley’s family traces from four such children … plus lots more. She will refer to her prize-winning juried exposition that has set her apart. Sit back and get comfortable for some true-story telling!
All who identify as women are welcome to drop in to the Grace Narthex, this Tuesday, Feb. 14, 7:00.
Calling Bridge Players:
The Online Bridge Group is looking for new players to join them on Trickster. If you would like to join in online please contact the church or see Bonnie on Sunday morning. This group is also wondering if there are folks who would like to play in person at the church on a weekly basis. If so please send a note to the church.
High Tea Helpers Needed:
There is a group looking to arrange a Spring Tea and Vendor show at Grace in May. But in order to make this happen they need a larger team of planners/workers who are willing to help make this happen. The first planning session for this will be on Monday February 20th at 1PM. Come out and learn more about this new event!
Lenten Study Update!
There is still time to sign up, registration closes Monday February 13th. Sign up online, on the signup sheet on the Welcome table or contact the church office. For all the details visit the website.
The group sessions will be hybrid groups, with people being able to join either in-person or through zoom. The program will start on February 22nd.
Three small group times are offered, each will be a 1 hour long:
- Monday afternoon,
- Sunday after service and
- an evening session (day to be determined)
Grace will be providing the Lenten Challenge books for approximately $15 – but don’t let the cost stop you! If you’d like to take part, just let Richard know.
Calling all Music Supporters at Grace!

Grace has a piano that’s grand,
With Michael – as maestro – in command
But it can’t stay in tune
Needs replacing real soon,
And now we must come – hat in hand.
Grace’s beloved piano, needs to be retired and replaced. Grace has launched a financial appeal to its members for donations. Think of it this way – a piano has 88 keys – 52 white and 36 black – that’s $85.22 per key – to get us to $7,500 – but any and all donations are welcome.
Donations up to $7,500 will be matched by the St. Stephen Endowment fund.
Please make your donations by etransfer (please state “piano Fund”) or using one of the special envelops at the donation boxes.
For more details visit the church website

Ways to Participate in the Life of the Church
Do you watch our services on-line? We want to hear from you.
Thank you to those who have already responded but there is still time to let us know who you are. Our online community is very important to the life of Grace each week we have over 120 views of our services online.
As Grace United Church connects with more folks through on-line worship, we’re hoping to find ways of connecting with you! Until the end of Epiphany (February 21st), folks participating in on-line worship are invited to fill out a five-minute survey that will help us to understand who our on-line community is. You can use this Link to survey. Thank you, in advance, for helping us to understand the wideness of Grace’s community of faith!

Communications:
The Sunday Morning A/V team is looking for 3 people to join the booth. Are you interested in becoming a slide changer, a sound board operator and if you are bold the ATEM operator (this is used to create the live streamed service). Of course training will be provided!
Our goal is to have 4 teams so that each team will only be required to work one Sunday a month. If you are interested drop by the A/V booth after service on Sunday and we can show you around. And remember if you are part of the team you always have a reserved seat for Sunday service.
