Advent Challenge

What could YOUR Advent wreath look like?

We invite all members of Grace – at all ages to take on an

Advent Events Challenge.

Week 2 Challenge:

ADVENT IS THE WAITING TIME  – but waiting isn’t just standing around.

Waiting is getting ready. Please check out this link to the United Church of Canada ‘Wandering Wisemen’  The Wandering Wisemen on Facebook       They first appeared in 2019(?) and are back again with trusty Hezekiah the camel.

Join Balthazar, Melchior, and Gaspar – along with their faithful camel, Hezekiah – on a whimsical holiday quest to find the infant king.

The Wandering Wisemen were born out of a desire to participate in the whimsical fun of “Elf on a Shelf” without involving Santa in our holiday traditions. Their daily tableau celebrates the joyful anticipation of the season.

Week 1 Challenge:

Take lots of photos and selfies – your own Advent Wreath, or photos of your family Advent time.

(I wonder if cupcakes could work!   Hmmm) – a way you can offer your own loving creativity up to God.

LET’S EMBARK ON AN ADVENT SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE

We need to find ways to connect as a congregation and feel that  connection to the Christian ‘reason for the season’.

November 28 – December 4HOPE  (blue or purple)

December 5 – December 11PEACE (blue or purple)

December 12 – December 18 – JOY (pink)

December 19 – December 23LOVE (blue or purple)

Friday December 24/ Sat. Dec. 25The Christ Candle  (white in the middle)

Watch Grace-Line each week for the Advent Events Challenge helpful hints and ideas on how to ‘provoke’ a Christian Christmas.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SHARE YOUR PHOTOS WITH YOUR CHURCH FRIENDS?

Please send them to: FaithFormation@GraceUnitedChurchBurlington.com by Wednesday at 8:00p.m. in time for that Sunday’s service.

We’d love to see you holding your creation – and some of us may need help to place your first name so a placard or first-name tag wouldn’t go amiss.  We will show them during the rolling announcements prior to the Sunday morning worship services.   …    So we need lots!
